Site Selection Notice

Dear Moore County Childcare Directors:

Please join your Local NC Pre-K Committee on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 for an informational meeting to discuss the NC Pre-Kindergarten Program and the site selection process for 2025-2026. NC Pre-K is administered by the Division of Child Development and Early Education in the NC Department of Health and Human Services. NC Pre-K is a pre-kindergarten program designed to provide high-quality educational experience in order to enhance kindergarten readiness. The program is community-based, voluntary, and designed to prepare eligible four-year-olds in North Carolina for success in school.

This meeting will be held on October 9 at 6:00pm at Partners for Children and Families office located at 7720 NC Hwy 22 in Carthage. Directors interested in participating in the site selection process for the 2025-2026 school year are required to attend this meeting.

During the meeting, you will have an opportunity to hear more about the NC Pre-K Program and its requirements. A general overview will be presented, followed by time for questions and answers. Prior to this informational meeting please visit NC Pre-K | North Carolina Prekindergarten Program - North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten (NC Pre-K) (ncdhhs.gov) for more information about NC Pre-K and the requirements for becoming a site. Again, if you are considering applying, attendance at the information session is strongly encouraged.

It is important to note approval as a site does not guarantee that slots will be awarded, only that a site is eligible to serve as a placement option for NC Pre-K children during the 2025-2026 school year. Moreover, to be considered for a NC Pre-K contract, private sites are required to have a four- or five-star rating.
